After they’ve achieved through radio plays, iTunes purchases and record sales, rappers love cementing their popularity by releasing exclusive fashion lines. Unfortunately, while the occasionally rapper-based clothing line proves popular, most are abysmal failures. The following are a few of the biggest rapper clothing line fails:
10. Snoop Dogg
Before he achieved some semblance of success with his generic Rich & Infamous line, Snoop Dogg first tried to make a name for himself with the 2000 launch of Snoop Dogg Clothing. This fashion pursuit proved a huge failure, proving that people were somewhat willing to wear Snoop’s clothing as long as they didn’t actually know he was the designer.
He enjoys using Kim Kardashian as a muse, but Kanye West initially was a huge fashion failure. Pastelle, his early fashion line, failed to take off, and as such, was shuttered in 2009.
Typically, for a celebrity clothing line to succeed, the famous individual must actuallywearthe featured items. Outkast’s Andre 3000 had no interest in rocking his designer duds, which is why his eponymous line ultimately flopped.
