Jedi Mind Tricks

The Jedi Mind Tricks, consisting of Vinnie Paz, Stoupe the Enemy of Mankind, DJ Kwestion, DJ Drew Dollars, Jus Allah, were originally a hip-hop duo comprised of rapper Vinnie Paz and producer Stoupe the Enemy of Mankind. After meeting in high school in 1992, the two started to make demos together.

Originally operating under the name Soulcraft, the duo managed to have multiple meetings with record labels while still in high school, but turned them down for various reasons. After taking the independent route, the group released their first official EP, The Amber Probe EP. A year later, they dropped their first official album, The Psycho-Social, Chemical, Biological & Electro-Magnetic Manipulation of Human Consciousness.

Rapper Jus Allah joined the group in 1999 to record the album, Violent by Design. Allah would leave the group shortly after and return in 2008 for the group’s sixth studio album, A History of Violence. Stoupe left the group in 2011 due to lost interest, but returned in 2015. DJ Kwestion joined the group as DJ Drew Dollars left around 1997.

Overall, the JMT have experienced great success in the Philly underground scene, as well as the commercial realm. They have sold over 250,000 albums in the United States and 450,000 albums internationally, all of which were released independently.
