Smooky Margielaa

Smooky MarGielaa is a rapper from The Bronx, New York. His beginnings in music stem from his father, Abdoulaye Diabaté, who is a famous African singer from Mali. Since his father sang, Smooky started singing from a young age. He even used to perform with his father, playing the Balafon.

He started rapping after downloading the GarageBand app, which he used to make beats. He then started using it to record his own voice, using beats from YouTube as well. The songs he would release off the app started getting considerable attention and provided him with his initial fanbase.

He linked up with A$AP Mob after he had a show in The Bronx with A$AP Twelvyy. He had been booted out of the club due to his age, even though he had a set he was supposed to perform. A$AP Rocky and his crew pulled up to the venue, where Smooky and him talked for a while. After telling Smooky he couldn’t get him back in, Smooky was able to have his manager’s friend open up a back door and get him in for his set.

Rocky took a liking to the young talent and co-signed him after, giving him several features on the Mob’s Cozy Tapes Vol. 2: Too Cozy. His debut mixtape, MMM, is expected to drop soon, and another to follow called, A Tribe Called G.R.A.P.E.
