Warhol.SS is a rapper from the Southeast side of Chicago. Warhol comes from an artistic family, and was heavily influenced by his mother’s interest in fashion and music. She inspired him to get involved in making clothing, and her taste in music was an influence in Warhol’s relationship with hip-hop.
Joey Bada$$ and the Beast Coast movement also inspired him to start rapping. Warhol moved around when he was young, moving to Minneapolis to live with his father for a period where he learned to hustle, and wound up in Atlanta for his senior year of high school.
He’s publicly stated that he sold Xanax in high school as part of his hustle game. His come up involved him linking with Cole Bennett, a music video director who runs a blog and YouTube page dedicated to underground hip-hop called Lyrical Lemonade.
His first major break was the release of his music video “Speed Racer,” which has over 2M views on YouTube. Since he’s started, Warhol has released three albums. Although his favorite artist is Basquiat, Warhol’s namesake was inspired by Andy Warhol, who he believes has a timeless style that no one can replicate. The “SS” part of his name stands for “Super Sh**ty”, but also refers to his love of cars (Super Sport).
