Was he taking his role too far?
R. Marcos Taylor, the stuntman/actor who played the notorious Suge Knight in 2015’s NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton, was arrested in a New Jersey bank for ‘terroristic threats.’ The actor seems to have been having a pretty rough month; only a few weeks ago he was charged with four counts of assault at a Carrabba’s restaurant after getting into an altercation in the parking lot. In this recent rampage, Taylor violently went off on TD Bank employees, threatening to kill them and then squaring up with police once they arrived on the scene.
Now people are questioning whether or not he’s taking his former role as the villainous Suge Knight a bit too seriously off-camera…
Straight Outta Compton
Taylor’s role as Suge Knight, the notoriously violent bouncer-turned-CEO of Death Row Records, was the largest role in his young career. Besides other bit roles in low-budget/indie projects, he receives most of his work as a stuntman, with extensive training in both karate and taekwondo. Recently you may have noticed his small part in Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver.
Considering the trouble that he’s faced in the past month however, it’s hard to believe we’ll be seeing him in anything else anytime soon…
In early August of 2017, R. Marcos Taylor was involved in an altercation at a New Jersey Carrabba’s Italian Grill. According to TMZ, Taylor got into a fight with the restaurant’s manager that resulted in punches being thrown. A brawl ensued to remove the actor from the restaurant that rumbled into the parking lot. Somewhere along the way he allegedly punched a woman in the head, but he disputes this claim.
TMZ reached out to Taylor and he told them that he was jumped in the parking lot and was only defending himself from the restaurant employees that threw him out. He faces 4 counts of assault, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct for the incident. His lawyer claims Taylor never punched or kicked anyone he wasn’t defending himself against.
Prior to that, Taylor was arrested back in May for getting into it with a bodyguard at a Miami hotel, so it’s hard to say that this outburst was just “him having a bad day” and perhaps it’s time for him to seek some anger management help.
After going into a TD Bank in his home state of New Jersey for a replacement card, R. Marcos Taylor became agitated when tellers were not able to help him out. Witnesses on the scene say that he walked in with a bad attitude, so when he was unable to get what he wanted, he became irate. TMZ claims that a witness even overheard him threaten a bank employee, saying, “I will f***ing kill you!”
Police eventually were called and that didn’t sit well with Taylor. He allegedly squared up with officers in a “fighting stance” and scored himself a face full of pepper spray.
He’s now being charged with terroristic threats, obstruction of justice, and disorderly conduct… again….
August has been hard on the up-and-coming actor and we only hope he gets himself together soon.
