Hip-hop’s latest favorite might have upset a chunk of her fan base. Though she is on a winning streak — having five songs on the Billboard Hot 100 at once, possibly getting a movie deal, attending and performing at the Grammy’s alongside Bruno Mars, and starring in Amazon’s Super Bowl commercial — this may slow it down a bit.
Cardi B has now ruffled the feathers of Crips all over the country, as she sent a burning shot towards the gang via social media. Just yesterday (Feb. 5), the rapper dissed the group’s favorite color on Instagram. Now, she’s receiving tons of backlash and even threats.
On Monday, while Cardi was spending time in Minneapolis, she posted a photo of herself, boasting the fur coat she was wearing. Accompanied with Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses alongside black, patent leather boots, the “Lick” rapper wore a blue long-line fur coat.
“I hate wearing Flue but this coat was too poppin,” she captioned the post.
Cardi, who has made her status as a Blood public knowledge, found herself cutting off her Instagram comments shortly after the photo was posted. Why? “Flue” is common term used to knock the Crips’ signature color without actually using it, so (unsurprisingly) when she used it, Crips didn’t like it.
To make matters worse for the rapstress, All Star weekend — which Cardi has committed to attend — is in Los Angeles in a little over a week. According to TMZ, one commenter told Cardi that she had better not come to L.A., calling the social media caption “WestCoast Suicide.”
The star didn’t respond to viewers’ reactions, but she did remove the picture’s caption before cutting off the comments.
Cardi went on to post her usual fan videos and memes, but people just wouldn’t let it go. Commenters continued the conversation about the artist’s controversial post under another photo.
“Wow y’all really on this gang s**t . There’s better things to do in life,” wrote Instagram user @naomiluvvvv. “We shall cee..if she comes to ALL STAR WEEKEND,” user @ceeyahceeyah chimed in.
“Everybody know this b**ch a blood stop f**c n killing it and go barty with cardi,” wrote @jazabelle55. “Y’all sure ain’t crip crazy with mozzy and he stay pushing that blood s**t period dont bang on a b**ch not winning.”
