The DJ, rapper and producer, aka Derrick Jones, got his start in hip-hop during the 1980s, with the legendary group, Boogie Down Productions, alongside KRS-One and DJ Scott La Rock.
Since Monday, he has been hosting daily jam sessions appropriately titled, “Homeschool,” live from his personal Instagram page, keeping spirits high with an endless playlist of hits — even as people practiced social distancing to prevent the spread of the infection, but the party had the effect of uniting many through music.

In a heartfelt Instagram post on Saturday morning, D-Nice stated, “I never would’ve imagined that the best party I would create and DJ would be from the comfort of my own home. Homeschool is a thing! Yesterday was absolutely insane. The amount of artists and friends that virtually partied with me far exceeded my expectations. I’m feeling nothing but gratitude. Thanks to all of you that supported. This has been a great way to keep our spirits high.”
Top celebrities, A-listers, and other public figures turned the livestream into something of a red carpet event and have joined in on the fun right from the comfort of their living rooms over the past week, with the latest jam session hosted on Saturday afternoon, drawing over 100K viewers, following an additional 160K on Sunday evening.
