He's a free man. Finally.
It’s a gift and a curse to be a rapper these days. Rappers live the good life, having the world’s finest luxuries at their fingertips. But with that comes the darker side of things in the form of people who try to use them. Especially women. Gold diggers are pretty popular in the hip-hop industry, and when they don’t get what they want, they usually pin lies against rappers, claiming they did horrible things to them just to get a paycheck.
In Freddie Gibbs’ case, he was wrongly accused of drugging and taking advantage of a woman while on tour in Austria last year. After being caught in another country, arrested and taken in, he was finally released on bail while he awaited the verdict. Let’s just say it’s a good day for Freddie and his manager, Ben Lambert.
Captured and Extradited
Back in June, Freddie was arrested in Toulouse, France moments before his Shadow of a Doubt European Tour. The French police acted on behalf of Austrian officials who issued a warrant for Freddie’s arrest. He was then extradited to Austria where he was charged with sexual abuse of a defenseless or psychologically impaired person because he allegedly drugged the woman before allegedly raping her.
In August, he was released on bail and has been awaiting the verdict. On today, Freddie was found not guilty of the charges and is officially a free man.
Ecstatic, his manager and friend, Ben Lambert , expressed his happy feelings via a series of tweets.
“Thank You God. Freddie Gibbs is coming home. Told you the truth would come to light. Freddie Gibbs has been acquitted of the False accusations. Thank you to everyone who has been by our side during these past 4 months. Through strength and patience, an innocent man is coming home.”
He also took to Instagram and shared a photo of Freddie reuniting with his daughter…
He accompanied the photo with the caption:
“The truth has come to light. Freddie has been acquitted of the false accusations. He’s coming home a free man. Thank you to everyone who has been by our side these past 4 months, sending us good vibes, praying for us. Thank God. To new beginnings…”
