This doesn't look good
Freddie Gibbs has been off the music radar, but that’s due to a pending case against him after a woman accused him of raping her. The popular MC was arrested in France back in June of this year after a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her while in Austria last year. While he was set to headline a festival in France, he had to cancel his set while he was taken into police custody. Now, Gibbs is being officially charged, and the case is getting even more intense.
Gibbs is being accused of raping a woman in Austria
The woman claims that the rapper sexually assaulted her last year, with authorities accusing him of “administering knock-out drops to a woman and then abusing her sexually while she was in a defenseless state.” This past June, he was extradited to Vienna in order to face potential consequences.
He is facing up to 10 years in prison
The criminal court of Vienna confirms that the rapper has officially been charged with sexual abuse, which could mean that he is facing some serious prison time if convicted. Officials say that the charges could equal up to a decade behind bars if he’s found guilty.
Freddie has a wife and baby at home
This case is particularly difficult on Gibbs’ family, as he has a wife and baby boy back at home. The Indiana rapper has faced other trouble in his past, as a gunman once opened fire on him while he was sitting in his car in Brooklyn, New York. Fortunately, he escaped the incident unharmed.
