J. Cole went to prison with no features.

J. Cole’s earnest and honest raps have helped plenty of people going through hard times, but what about people who are actually doing hard time? J. Cole took some time off from his 4 Your Eyez Only tour to visit incarcerated fans in San Quentin. He brought along a few Dreamville Records associates, including label head Ibrahim “Ib” Hamid.

While the actual date of the visit to the California prison is unknown, the Dreamville crew shared photos of Cole meeting with inmates on their Instagram accounts on August 1st. Dreamville team member Felton Brown wrote on Instagram that the purpose of the visit was to listen to people whose “stories go unheard behind the wall.” The photos show Cole smiling alongside fans who are serving life sentences inside the world-famous prison. Hamid says the day inside San Quentin was a “life-changing experience” and that a photo caption “wouldn’t be doing it justice.”
