More like #FryeFraud
Ja Rule’s Fyre Festival turned out to be a sh*t show. (Hey, those are the words of festival goers, not mine.) The rapper co-organzied the event that was aimed for luxury; according to a spokesperson for the fest, it was possible to spend nearly $105,000 for the “Frye experience.”
The Fyre festival was set to take place on the Bahamian island of Great Exuma the last weekend of April and first weekend of May, but the festival ended before it even started after attendees weren’t able to catch flights due to the festival’s lack of security and preparation. Now, everyone is peed off at what was compared to the Hunger Games and is ready to take the festival organizers down.
The festival was founded and organized by entrepreneur Billy McFarland and co-organized by rapper Ja Rule. It was heavily promoted on Instagram by Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, and other models.
Multiple G.O.O.D. Music artists, Pusha T, Desiigner, and Lil Yachty were amongst the artists set to perform. Blink-182 was also on the bill, before dropping out because they weren’t confident that they’d have what they would need during their performance.
Attendees Get Mad
Festival goers arrived as early as Thursday to prepare for the festival’s kickoff on Friday. They immediately took to social media to blast the festival for a lack of security, food, accommodations, and artist relations. A writer was so fed up that he took to Twitter to give a play-by-play of what was happening at the festival…
“So Fyre Fest is a complete disaster. Mass chaos. No organization. No one knows where to go. There are no villas, just a disaster tent city,” William N. Finley IV tweeted out. He also posted videos of disturbing images of “amenities” and other happenings at the festival.
