Family Feuds
Kyle Norman — a member of the ’90s group Jagged Edge — has found himself in some legal trouble… again. Though the internet hasn’t seen his name in headlines since 2017, he’s reportedly not getting any better at staying out of jail.
According to a recently posted Instagram video, the troubled artist found himself in the midst of physically violent family drama before being hauled off to jail.

The video, posted onto the Instagram page of The Gossip Twins, didn’t show anyone’s face but there’s clearly a scuffle going on. Off-camera, a female voice can be heard attempting to coax the fighters into breaking it up, telling the two to not “tear the house up.”
“Oh, he’s bleeding,” the female voice says in the recording, though there’s no indication as to who she’s referring to.
“We received a tip that #kylenorman of the R&B group #jaggededge was beat up by his cousin #gizmomafiso and then arrested because Kyle allegedly put his hands on his sister,” the clip was captioned. Alongside the video, the post included a photo of the scene, depicting a blood-drenched pillow.
What’s up with Kyle?
“He too old to be on Ig doing all that. He look 50,” wrote on Instagram user. Another agreed, adding, “And he ain’t gone stop. Kyle still drinking.”
For anyone keeping up with the singer, this news isn’t surprising. This is far from Kyle’s first time on the wrong side of the law. At the beginning of last year, the vocalist was arrested for violating his criminal probation for family violence and battery, according to Bossip. The 42-year-old’s probation officer cited him for missing court-ordered anger management and alcohol courses, so he was sent to jail for a little under two weeks.
The probation stemmed from April 2016, when Norman was convicted of Disorderly Conduct after pleading guilty to the crime. The sentence was comprised of a $24 fine, a nearly $40 “supervision fee” (to be paid monthly) as well as one year’s worth of probation. Alongside being barred from contacting the victim, the “Let’s Get Married” crooner also had to take anger management, drug and alcohol courses.
The artist broke his probation’s rules several times, his P.O. said at the time, citing “failing to report, failing to pay fines/fees, owing $394 in arrearages to the court, skipping alcohol and drug evaluation or attend the anger management classes.”
Downward Spiral

In November of 2016, Norman was reported to have gotten into an altercation with his own son. Norman’s wife, Merrika, called the police to their home at about 5 a.m. after hearing Norman and his son fighting. While another family member prevented Norman from doing his son any physical harm for a time, the singer eventually broke free.
The rumor at the time was that Norman stabbed his son before attempting to “beat” him, but the authorities arrived at the home first. The official police report only documented a probation violation because witnesses didn’t cooperate, opting to remain silent about what they saw.
According to BET, “Norman, who is currently facing a 15-month probation for the 2015 assault on his wife where he shoved an engagement ring down her throat, was interviewed by officers who responded to the incident but was uncooperative with the interview. Blood stains were reported to be throughout the home as well as a ‘strong odor’ of alcohol on the singer’s breath.”
