How will he fit?
Songwriter Sean Garrett is the latest to join the ever-shifting cast of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. While he doesn’t have the typical striver’s narrative that the show goes for — he’s already written songs for Beyonce and Usher — he does have a big time in to the Mona Scott Universe. Garrett’s dating LHHATL stalwart Karlie Redd.
The news that Garrett is joining the cast comes to us from The Jasmine Brand who , in fairness, did not cite any sources (so this could still be firmly gossip). Still, it could be interesting to get a truly behind-the-scenes glimpse into the pop world via the writer of songs like “Yeah!” and “Get Me Bodied.”
Hits On Hits
The now 38-year-old writer was viewed as something of a wunderkind in the early ‘00s. That’s when he landed a string of massive hits and earned the nickname “The Pen” from no less a talent scout than Jay-Z.
L.A. Reid met him by chance back then and called it “one of the luckiest days of my life.”
“I happened to be in Atlanta at Hitco Studios, and Sean was in doing demos, and I heard him from outside and went, ‘Oh, my God. Who’s that?’ He was amazing, and I was immediately taken. My God, how could I get so lucky?” the former Epic CEO said in an interview with Billboard. “I walked into this guy, and from there he started to write songs for me for various artists – and the next thing you know, he’s one of the biggest writers in the country.”
And those accolades keep raining down from the top.
“He’s a real songwriter, one who can cross into these different worlds, and he’s really quick,” said Jimmy Iovine. “He wrote a song on the Fergie record over the phone. Every now and then one of these writers comes along, but it’s really, really rare.”
Will It Work?
It will be interesting to see how Garrett slots in with the tumultuous world of LHHATL, a place where his supposed boo can’t even keep the drama contained to one set. She recently popped off at a party featuring her ex Ceaser of Black Ink.
We’re talking about a world where women allegedly sleep with men just to see the look on their enemy’s face when they do it. At least that’s the story that surrounded a recent Black Ink reunion. Word was that Tommie hooked up with Karlie’s ex Ceaser out of spite. She denied it on social media, however.
“I’ll never sell out for any female or male ever! I wasn’t raised like that. Yes I’m ah taker not a wh*re!I Have No wh*re tendencies and I value myself deeply. I was raised by crooks not wh*res to each his own but if you’re #teamtommie I do not approve of this that’s the easy route… #loveyall.”
Who knows if he’ll be able to to keep up with all that?
What do you think? Is he joining the cast? Will he be able to slide into the dramatics? Do you recognize anybody on LHHATL anymore? Let us know how you feel about this new addition in the comments and be sure to SHARE this article.
