"A little heartbroken, but I'm a fighter."
On March 24th, the exact day of his release, Gates was getting processed out of jail when authorities found outstanding warrants from weapon-related charges.
He was put back in jail, and a court hearing was set for later that day. The judge ruled that the rapper would remain in jail without bond, until he’s extradited back to Illinois.
French Montana shows love
Family, friends, and fans were sad to hear that Gates wouldn’t be released from jail. French Montana took to social media to show his friend and fellow rapper some love.
French captioned an Instagram photo: “One time for my Muslim brother. Me and chinx (rest in peace) was the first dudes to do a feat with this brother. before People even knew who he was 2011 I hate watching the system and all the hate killing us and our brother and killing the people that love us #freegates #freemax #foreverchinx #freekodac #freepenthouse.”
Wife speaks out
A day after Gates was sent back behind bars, his wife Dreka issued a statement via Instagram, thanking fans for support and asking for positive vibes.
“@iamkevingates #bepositive #positivevibes #positiveenergy By the way, I’m good, a little heartbroken but I’m a fighter and it’s only a matter of time before this is all over,” she wrote to accompany her above statement.
Gates will remain behind bars until Illinois authorities move him within the next 30 days.
