"S**t feeling like 96."
According to Swizz Beatz, Lauryn Hill “had the Apollo on fire” during her performance. The artist hit New York’s famous theater this week (May 1), and she gave all who attended a show.
Surprising everyone, the singer remixed Drake’s “Nice For What.” As one fan put it: “S**t feeling like 96.”
“He took the sample. My s**t a classic. Here’s an example,” she rapped against the “Nice For What” beat, adding that she “wanna spice it up on a riddle.”
When Swizz posted a short clip of Hill performing the song, which samples her 1998 single “Ex-Factor,” he proposed an idea everyone was down for.
“Happy Weds Miss Hill had the Apollo on fire last night,” he began his Instagram caption. “Tell @champagnepapi he need her on the RMX ASAP!!!”
“Please get this s**t on wax asap,” an Instagram user wrote. A fan commented, “Omg I wanna hear the remix of this with her ima go crazy.”
“We need this remix,” another added. “IT NEEDS TO HAPPEN!” Others simply tagged Drake, writing “Remix.”
“Complex and Changing”
If the clip did nothing else, it hyped fans up for her Miseducation 20th Anniversary Tour. The 42-year-old announced that she was hitting the road via a press release mid-April.
“This album chronicled an intimate piece of my young existence,” Hill said in the statement. “It was the summation of most, if not all, of my most hopeful and positive emotions experienced to that date. I Loved and believed deeply in my community’s ability to both Love and heal itself provided it received the right amount of support and encouragement. Our world today, both complex and changing, is in need of the balance between moral fortitude and cathartic expression.”
She added, “I hope the Love and energy that permeated this work can continue to inspire change with Love and optimism at the helm.”
She’ll start in July and end in October, hitting major cities like Atlanta, Philadelphia, Houston and more.
“Nice For What”
In other “Nice For What” news: Drake recently shared behind-the-scenes clips from the “Nice For What” music video, showing himself smoothly gliding on skates before hitting the floor. The video, which Drake posted late April, had over five million views within the first few hours of it being posted.
Captioned “Director’s Cut” with a crying emoji, the short clip shows Drake skating in a blue puffer jacket before slipping on what looks like a wet floor. “Nice For What” is heard playing in the background, giving fans a glimpse of the track’s unreleased video footage.
“You need skating lessons from weezy,” a fan joked on Instagram. “I shouldn’t be laughing so hard, but Gooodddd daaaammmmnnn!!” added another.
If the rumors have any truth to them, Champagne Papi isn’t only falling physically but emotionally as well. According to reports, 6 God Drizzy Drake has a girlfriend.
The Sun says the “God’s Plan” rapper caught feelings for English singer Raye — the first person he’s publicaly dated since Jennifer Lopez — after “some late-night studio sessions.” “And the Canadian has been wining and dining her in one of London’s swankiest restaurants,” the outlet alleges.
The Sun‘s source revealed that Raye “is a massive fan of Drake’s work,” which led her to send him some of her music on Twitter. “He was clearly impressed by her songwriting talents and when they met to record, it quickly became obvious it wasn’t just her music he was interested in,” the insider continued.
