Let's all wildly speculate
Because we expect nothing but complete honesty and unfiltered realness from our VH1 reality shows, it can be a bit of a shock to find out that one of the characters at the heart of Mona Scott-Young’s universe is running a scam. Has the world no decency?
Okay, that was obviously sarcasm.
However, fans are genuinely upset at the idea that Erica Mena’s entire love life might be a fraud perpetrated on all of us by the producers of the Love & Hip Hop series. Viewers of the show seem to think that the suddenly-returned Mena and her new bae have an air of fishiness about them. Cliff Dixon has been attached to other high-profile women in the past, and Bossip claims he’s close with the people who cast LHHATL.
So, it was only a matter of time before people started questioning whether or not Cliff is a prop to on board Erica Mena with a ready-to-go story line. After all, she’s been away from the show for years. There’s no substantive evidence that this is happening (beyond the general suspicion that everything that goes down on the show should be eyed with), but still, it’s fun to think about.
It’s not the first meta-drama around this season of LHHATL, and it certainly won’t be the last. Just recently, word around the show was that an on-screen beef almost turned deadly. Gossip websites were reporting that Tommie Lee brought a gun to set to deal with her rival Karen King.
However, in an interview after the story broke, Tommie completely denied the allegations.
“I am a child of God and I would never do anything like that,” she told Hip-Hop Enquirer. “I have Security to carry guns for me, I don’t need to have a gun.”
She didn’t miss an opportunity to slam her enemy, though. She closed the interview by claiming that Karen spread the rumors to get her name in headlines. She snarled that she wouldn’t need to kill Karen because her fellow cast-member was doing well enough undermining herself.
“Karen is upset in this state of her life and she is just trying to sabotage my career,” she said. “I’m not over here thinking about killing her. I’m over here focusing on my career, my singles that’s about to drop.”
What do you think?
Mena has had extracurricular drama of her own. She’s been fighting with everyone from Instagram comedians to Zell Swag. Before she was even announced to be returning to Love & Hip Hop, camera phone carriers caught her squaring up with a man twice her size outside of a nightclub. The man got a little bit too comfy with the way he was talking about Mena, so she started swinging.
Via HipHopMyWay‘s inital report on the incident:
The man says, “This is what I’m talking about with dumb a*s f**king hoes…” There’s hardly a woman alive who would let that go without some kind of clap back, but Erica did more than that; she gave him a punch back.
It’s hard to see where her fists of fury landed, but she definitely tried to get him in the face.”
Is Cliff a plant to mellow Mena out and have her make stories without getting banged up? Sound off in the comments and be sure to SHARE this article.
