It’s no surprise that rappers and hip hop artists love weed. They love to rap about it, they love to feature it in their music videos, and of course, they love to smoke it. After working in the music industry, you learn that someone is expected to have a dealer on speed dial or grass on hand, especially when it comes to covering hip hop. Hell, I was forced to learn how to roll my first blunt for School Boy Q at a festival I was working.
When it comes to law enforcement, police usually turn a blind eye to the sight or smell of Jane because, let’s be honest, half of our favorite rappers would be locked up if they didn’t. Unfortunately, in 2007, Lil Wayne wasn’t so lucky. The NYPD busted him and a friend smoking near a tour bus after his show at the Beacon Theater. They took custody of Wayne and searched the area, where they found a .40 caliber pistol, which was enough to get Weezy sentenced to a year in prison.
Lil Wayne recently released his prison memoir called Gone ‘Til November about his time in Rikers, so bust out your reading glasses and get ready.
Something To Enjoy
Lil Wayne is releasing his memoir in part because of his latest troubles with Cash Money. The label, or specifically Wayne’s former friend and mentor, Birdman, has trapped Weezy in contract and despite the grip they made together and good times they shared, Bird won’t let Wanye free to release new music. The memoir will at least give hungry fans a lil taste of Wayne.
Messed Up Mugshot
From the first day inside, Weezy couldn’t catch a break. He wrote, “In 24 hours, I went from the plush life of having my fans ask to take my picture, to the harsh reality of having to take my prisoner ID picture. And just when I thought the moment couldn’t get any worse, they snapped the picture while I was talking…damn!”
That was just the beginning.
Sexy Ms. Burke
He admitted that he had a thing for a silver-fox, lady correctional officer, Ms. Burke.
“And then there’s Ms. Burke,” he gushed. “Owww! She’s so sexy! She has a head full of gray hair, but she’s not old. I’m not sure what caused it, but she said that her hair has been gray since she was thirteen. My first impression was that it’s just her swag and she dyed it gray on purpose. That’s how cool it looks on her. I mean, she’s fine as hell! I’d definitely hit it!”
