They won't be happy to hear this
Lil Yachty is having an amazing year so far, and things only seem to be going up for him. The rapper started off his summer by landing a spot on XXL’s Freshman cover, and his collaborations are making some major mainstream moves. While he’s seeing a lot of success with a huge cult following, there is definitely some controversy to his simplistic style in rap. The Atlanta entertainer gets a lot of flack from the older generation, but now, he has some choice words for them as well.
Lil Yachty has a huge fan base, but a lot of haters
The rapper’s music may have quickly earned him a huge fan base in the last year, but Yachty’s sound has been widely criticized by longtime rap fans. The bashing only became worse when he did his XXL Freshman freestyle, and he didn’t seem to deliver anything of quality in his rhymes. Lil Boat has a sound his fans like, and it’s clear he’s sticking to it.
The rapper isn’t here for the old heads
While doing an interview with Letty for L.A.’s 92.3 station, the rapper spoke on a slew of topics, but one conversation in particular pressed some buttons. The radio host told the rapper that she was not exactly a fan of his music, but she doesn’t want to knock him after seeing how successful he’s become. Yachty responded with some controversial choice of words for the self-proclaimed “old heads” in hip hop.
He says that the youth doesn’t care about old rap
Lil Boat told the hosts, “Just don’t listen to it, but don’t knock it. You knocking it cause you don’t understand it.” He then goes on to call old school hip hop heads, “old nagging a$$ bi**hes.” He continued, “I’m not talking about old rappers. I’m talking about old people in general. It’s so many old people that be commenting on my radio interviews. They’re mad because nobody raps like Scarface anymore. F**king Ghostface Killah. No one cares, bro!”
