She can't fill Cardi's bloody shoes
Plenty of people have shared their take on Cardi B’s chart-dominating “Bodak Yellow.” With so many lovers, the song — which started as an exercise over a flow lifted from Kodak Black’s “No Flockin” — lends itself to new interpretations. Even Cardi has released alternate versions for the Spanish speakers in her Bardi Gang. But… Miley Cyrus’ pop-leaning take that came out as a part of Jimmy Fallon’s ongoing Wheel of Musical Impressions bit was a bridge too far.
The internet reacted to the “gentrified” version of “Bodak Yellow” with venom. While the entire world is here for Cardi B’s success, they were decidedly absent for Miley’s version.
“Saw something about Miley Cyrus covering ‘Bodak Yellow’ and I immediately thought about vegan oxtails,” wrote Desus from the Bodega Boys podcast.
“I don’t want to watch Miley Cyrus do a motherf*cking thing with ‘Bodak Yellow,’ wrote a Twitter user.
“The words ‘Watch Miley Cyrus give Bodak Yellow a pop makeover’ are engraved on the gates to Hell,” wrote one particularly ruffled viewer.
