Mr. Davin from Jodeci sat down with VladTV and talked about how he had to be cool during the east coast vs. west coast beef that was going on back in the day. He said that it was all for nothing and that the world lost two very talented people because of it. “Two of the most talented rappers we’ll probably ever see,” he said, talking about Tupac and Biggie. He recently looked back on a time when Puff tried to make him choose. Wait until you fid out what he had to say.
“What happened with you guys in the middle of all this?” Dalvin was asked. “Well I mean… It’s really stupid how this whole thing was got into. It was really stupid. Coulda been avoided, and at the time it was brewing I was like ‘Man come on, this is really retarded,’ and it started pulling people in. At first it was two individuals and it was over something really stupid,” he responded.
“Suge and Puffy?” he was asked.
“Well… It was two individuals. It could have been avoided. It started off as a joke and it was escalated. And I was cool with Suge. That’s why I didn’t want to see it like that, cause it didn’t have to be like that. When Puff got me and said ‘What side you on?’ I said ‘Man I’m from the south, I ain’t got nothin to do with that,'” he continued.
“He thought that I betrayed him, but I didn’t. For me I didn’t have nothing to do with it. None of it. I wasn’t riding with Suge or riding with [Puff]. It was just like both of y’all are my friends, I don’t have any problem with anybody, and that’s the position that Jodeci took as a group.”
“It could have been avoided. It could have really been avoided. And it was like one of those situations where it’s like ‘Why?’ But then you think maybe it was inevitable for this to happen,” he said.
He was then asked if he was cool with Biggie. “Oh yeah. I knew Biggie before he put his first song out,” he said.
