New Bae Alert?
For a minute there, it looked like Nicki Minaj would settle down with Nas. The two New York natives had fans captivated… before they broke up with no warning. Close on the heels of that split, anonymous sources came forward with tales of Nicki hopping to get back with Meek Mill after he was released from prison. However, that didn’t happen either.
Now hip-hop fans have their eyes on Nicki and Eminem. Keep scrolling to see Nicki admit to dating someone new.
Wins & Losses
In March, sources revealed that Nicki had been “thinking about Meek lately.” The couple, who broke up at the beginning of 2017, dated for two years before parting ways. The split was amicable for the most part, with only a little shade thrown back and forth between the two.
“They were fighting on and off for a little while about a few topics that upset Nicki. They had a bigger fight and then called it quits,” an insider told E! News at the time of their break up. The source added that there was still love there before sharing that “getting back with Meek could happen down the road again” because Nicki still cared for the rapper a lot.
Well, “down the road” was looking to be a little closer then. According to one of HollywoodLife‘s insiders, the “Anaconda” rapper “has been think about Meek lately and thinking about how she feels he should be out of prison.”
“She wants to work with him again and she has also been thinking about him romantically and leading her thoughts to the times they had when they dated a few years ago,” the source continued. “She thinks that a spark could be brought up again and she would absolutely give him another chance if he were to get out of prison soon. She’d very much consider it and is willing to give him a second chance if that is something he’d be interested in as well.”
Meek himself expressed similar sentiments during an interview with Philadelphia’s Power 99 radio station. Nearly six months after the couple’s break up, he said that parting from Nicki was a definite “loss.”
“Of course, breaking up with anyone you love is a loss. Period. Game time. Ya heard? You want me to get up here and make up a lie or something, Kev? It’s so easy to tell the truth now,” he said, chatting with the show’s host, Cosmic Kev.
It seemed like Nicki was right on time, as reports that Meek was close to being released early were buzzing around the hip-hop-sphere. As previously reported by HipHopMyWay, the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office submitted paperwork, detailing “a strong showing of likelihood of the Petitioner’s conviction being reversed (in whole or in part).”
More than that, the D.A.’s office had reportedly not denied the rapper’s petition for bail, which he filed on Feb. 14. Joe Tacopina, Meek’s very outspoken lawyer, said him and the rest of the “Dreams and Nightmares” artist’s team are “very pleased” with the way Meek’s situation is looking.
“We are very pleased with the District Attorney’s filing today stating that he is not opposing Meek’s immediate release on bail, and that there is a strong likelihood that Meek’s conviction will ultimately be reversed in whole or in part,” Tacopina stated. “We look forward to his immediate release by the court on bail in light of this development.”
However, now that the rapper is a free man, nothing between the two popped off. Instead, Nicki dropped some bars, calling herself “Ms. Slim Shady.”
