On the Mend
Cardi was suspected of being pregnant for months before she finally and officially shared the news during her performance on Saturday Night Live early April. On the heels of her reveal, which some fans dubbed “iconic,” Cardi’s sister accidentally revealed something of her own.
Twenty-one-year-old Hennessy Carolina posted a sweet, lengthy message to her older sister and her unborn child, inadvertently mentioning the baby’s gender.
While Hennessy’s original Instagram post was riddled with slip-ups, the star corrected the caption, taking out any references to the baby’s gender. However, The Shade Room had already screen shot her mistakes.
“A baby is truly a blessing from God,” Hennessy began. “I know how much you always wanted to be a mom!”
After writing how excited she is to become an aunt, Hennessy said, “I’m going to be able to hold baby you and give her all the kisses and hugs.” “I’m passing my daughter crown down,” the star added.
In the corrected version of the post, Hennessy changes the caption to read: “I’m going to be able to hold ur baby and give the baby all the kisses and hugs! your pregnancy is mines we pregnant can’t believe we’re having a baby!”
Prepping for Baby?
Before Cardi was ready to share her baby news with the world, she tried to hide it for as long as possible. However, the public made that very hard.
According to MTO News, Cardi planned to reveal her pregnancy in Miami. However, before she could do so, someone snapped pictures of her burgeoning belly, spilling the news onto the internet.
In the photos — “taken from BEHIND SOME BUSHES” — viewers can see the rapstress dressed in an elaborate costume, featuring a yellow full-length skirt and bedazzled top. While a stylist maneuvers the material of the skirt, he cups the fabric just right, giving off a nearly perfect view of Cardi’s baby bump.
Adding more validity to the then-rumors, Cardi’s team reportedly spilled her pregnancy news themselves. According to TMZ, an unnamed member of the “Bartier Cardi” rapper’s crew shared the top secret info with a staff member at this year’s Maxim Super Bowl Party. While at the event, someone in Cardi’s team allegedly spilled the beans about her being three or four months pregnant.
TMZ‘s sources says that after the artist performed at the party, she secluded herself from the “party atmosphere,” saying that she wasn’t in the mood for it. Though her entourage had a VIP section to themselves, insiders say Cardi preferred to stay in the area by the stage, drinking only water.
When an event staffer requested that someone escort Cardi back to her VIP area, a person in the star’s crew informed the worker that she was fine where she was alongside saying that she was with child.
Since then, Cardi — and everyone in her immediate circle — has vehemently denied any notions of a pregnancy. When the rumor mill first kicked up, Cardi herself did the best she could to stop it.
“No b***h I’m just getting fat,” she responded to a comment on Instagram. “Let me fat in peace.”
The short, sweet shut down was nothing compared to the lengthy response she gave Tami Roman. After the Basketball Wives star — who has made a distinctive name for herself outside of reality TV by posting comedic videos about celebrities and culture on social media — refueled Cardi’s pregnancy rumors, Cardi went off.
Opinions & Rumors
After saying that the rapstress is “funny as all get out,” Tami offered her thoughts. “Now on the picture you look pregnant,” Tami said. “Now I know you said that you was just gettin’ fat, and that’s okay too, but I’m just sayin’ it look pregnant.” She then said that Cardi’s tummy looked like “that pregnant lady belly,” before guessing that she was probably “about two, three months” along in her pregnancy.
“And I’d be happy about that. Cause you and Offset… that baby would be so yummy. I mean, he’s attractive. You attractive. So, the law of averages… It’ll work out for you,” Tami continued. “Just make the announcement,” she prodded, ending her video.
