These rappers went bold with their ink.
Being a rapper requires a certain amount of confidence. Confidence that you’re better than your competition, confidence that you’re bringing something that people will want to listen to, confidence that you’re going to be able to make a living as a rapper.
That last bit might explain why so many rappers have tattoos on their necks. It’s a surefire sign that they think they’ll never have to work for anyone but themselves ever again. But since the sample size of neck tattoos is so large in the rap world, you can actually make distinctions between the good and bad neck tats among rappers.
We’ve pulled together a few of our favorite hip-hip artists with the most brazen of tats.
Chris Brown’s first neck tattoo drew the ire of fans who thought it looked too much like a battered woman. Truthfully, it was just poorly done. But clearly Breezy took the criticism to heart as he lessened the tattoo’s impact with more ink.
Lil Wanye has several neck tats but none are more prominent than the red star in the center of his neck.
Waka Flocka has several phrases tattooed on his neck. On top of several inspirational phrases, he also has the words “Salute Me Or Shoot Me,” the title of his mixtape series.
