They could be in jail alongside Suge
Suge Knight may not be able to escape his most recent rap, and his former fiancée is going down too. It all started when Suge Knight was hanging out in Compton in January 2015. The rapper has long been notorious for his no-tolerance lifestyle and he’s been getting in trouble with the law since his very early days. He’s been fingered as the perpetrator for tons of crimes, but has avoided getting into too much trouble so far, so he may have felt bulletproof by this point in his life. Seems that might not be true any more…
On the night of January 29, 2015, Suge Knight, Terry Carter, and Cle Sloan were on the set of Straight Outta Compton and started arguing with each other. According to surveillance footage, Suge Knight got into his vehicle and intentionally ran into the other two men, killing Terry, the co-founder of Heavyweight Records, and injuring filmmaker Cle. Knight fled the scene but eventually turned himself into the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department the next day. He was arrested on suspicion of murder and has been on trial for it ever since. Suge Knight’s trial has been anything but speedy. Proceedings have been delayed time and time again due in part to his health issues. The next court date is January 8, 2018.
While Suge has been locked up, his fiancée Toilin Kelly and his business partner Mark Blankenship were up to allegedly no good. They have been accused of taking some surveillance video of the incident and selling it for $55,000 to the gossip site TMZ.
The video was “sealed” meaning it wasn’t theirs to sell or gain profits from. The pair was indicted on July 28 by the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office with one count of conspiracy to violate a court order, conspiracy to obstruct justice, and conspiracy to commit grand theft.
It was argued in court that Toilin and Mark knew that selling the video was illegal, yet they spent nearly a month trying to get their paycheck. So far, Toilin pleaded not guilty, while Mark has not yet been arraigned. They could face three years in prison for the money-making scheme.
As far as things stand with Suge Knight, he pleaded not guilty to murder, attempted murder, and hit-and-run charges; he claims that running over the men was in self-defense because he was being ambushed at the time. Prosecutors recently accused Suge Knight and his attorney Matthew Fletcher of attempting to bribe witnesses that could testify against Suge in his upcoming trials.
Toilin and Mark were named in the scheme with the prosecution alleging that Toilin and Mark “had an understanding that they were going to assist the defendant in procuring witnesses for his defense, which included payments for fabricated testimony.” Matthew Fletcher was recorded during a prison phone call saying, “I’ll pay anything … if we can get the two or three versions from the bikers on tape. It’s going home time. Right? That’s a fair mother**king investment, you know, 20, 25 thousand dollars to pay to these mother**kers to get home.”
Matthew tried to say that Suge Knight doesn’t have the money to pay off witnesses and that he was just trying to source another tape of the hit-and-run. He stated, “We were sending people out to try to find versions of the videotape. It would be a wonderful investment. TMZ would pay them. Radar would pay them.”
