The worst albums of all time
You remember the saying, “Women lie, men lie, but numbers don’t,” right? Well, whoever said great artists can do no wrong lied. Kanye West is one of my favorite rappers/producers, but that doesn’t mean that I love every single thing he’s put out. Okay, so I love most of his work, but I would be lying if I added Yeezus to that list. I like a couple of tracks off of the album but it isn’t my favorite project by the Chicago genius. Yeah, the album was nominated for a Grammy or two, but just because it did well doesn’t mean it was his greatest. And he’s not the only one. There are plenty of great rappers who have released at least one not-so-great album.
Lil Wayne – Rebirth
Lil Wayne has always let us see a little of his rocker side. The rapper showed us his skater rock style and even dabbled into alternative music. All good. But when he released Rebirth, his rap-rock album, it was a totally different experience. “Drop the World” was one of the more successful singles off the album, going certified quadruple platinum.
T.I. – No Mercy
I honestly can’t think of one memorable song on this album. Surprinsgly, the album featured collabs with Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Scarface, Chris Brown, Eminem, The-Dream, Trey Songz, Pharrell, Drake and Christina Aguilera. That helped sales as the album went certified gold.
Common – Universal Mind Control
Common attempted to have mind control of loyal fans with this one. Instead of sticking to the super conscious tip, Common opted to give fans a more rough side to him. And that didn’t work. Those who love Common love him for who he is, not what he attempted to be on that album, which was a foul-mouthed rapper. With a song like, “Sex 4 Suga”? Uh, no.
