Tyler Perry has brought us countless movies that have both uplifted and amused the black community. He took gospel plays and turned them into box office hits and successful TV shows. His matriarch character, Madea, is super hilarious and a legend in her own right. The character has been starring in his movies since 2005 and is still thriving in the black community.

In 2011, Forbes named him the highest-paid man in entertainment, earning $130 million in 2010 and 2011. But now, the New Orleans native is under fire for hiring an all-white cast for his new TLC series, Tyler Perry’s Too Close to Home.
