To the Fans
Following her concerning on-air health scare, Wendy Williams reached out to fans to share some insight about the status of her health and to ease their minds. In an Instagram video posted last week, the talk show host said that she’s taking it like a trooper and will be back to work today, Feb. 19.
“I’m hydrating this bug out,” she said. She also joked about the situation, promising fans that Monday’s topics “will be popping” to make up for her time away.
On the Job
“I guess when you don’t take a sick day EVER in over 25 years the ground is supposed to shake! LOL,” Wendy wrote on Instagram after sharing the good news about her return to television.
Wearing a light pink robe and white head wrap, the 53-year-old was seen resting and drinking fluids in the video. “It’s not the flu yet, but I feel flu-ish,” she began. “It’s not a five, on a scale of one to five. It’s not even a four.”
She then shared her plans to visit a doctor “to find out exactly what it is,” before saying, “I feel awful.”
“I had to be talked out of going into work today, and taking off a few days to get myself together,” she continued. “Cause I’m a thorough-breed. You know, I have not taken off since we started the show. And on radio, taking off was never my thing.”
“I ride or die for my craft,” Wendy posted afterwards in a text picture. “I appreciate all the tremendous LOVE & SUPPORT from everyone – especially my INCREDIBLE staff!”
“MISS U ALL!!” she added.
The comments section of both posts were filled to the brim with love and get-well-soons by fans.
“Whatever it is doesn’t matter, we fans love and support you through it all! most importantly please TAKE CARE <3 anything it takes, consider & be open to try looking after yourself first is strongest best brave step for anyone,” wrote Instagram user @jmh1987.
“Feel better queen of the talk show,” added user @evelyndoll08. “Now I know why I didn’t catch fresh shows for the last three days,” said @mizzaleez. “Glad u better Wendy and I have a suggestion…instead of running to your seat y don’t u switch and twirl!”
The first time Wendy’s health issues were at the center of everyone’s attention was when she overheated and collapsed on-air late 2017. Afterwards, the star called the ordeal “really scary” before assuring fans that she was totally fine, posting a video of herself surrounded by Gatorade and Pedialyte.
50 Cent — who famously teases Wendy Williams via social media every chance he gets — accused the show host of faking the scene though. While Wendy claimed to have gotten too hot in the costume she wore to film the Halloween episode of The Wendy Williams Show, the “21 Questions” rapper said, “It just looks like bad acting to me.”
He posted an edited version of the video that showed Wiliams collapsing several times to a beat. “When you talk s**t online and run into the person in real life,” read the banner across the top of the clip.
He even posted a seemingly normal picture of himself, captioning it, “Happy Halloween Catch 50Central tomorrow night at 10:30 PM, I’m gonna over heat in my costume. LOL.”
