Kanye is back!
Besides a few songs and features here and there, Kanye West has been eerily quiet for the past year. The anniversary of his mother’s death took a huge toll on the rapper, leading to a much need break from the limelight. While fans and peers understood his need for space, his disappearance was most definitely felt.
MC Lyte, who usually keeps to herself, even felt the need to address Kanye’s leave of absence. “My dear brother you are on my mind. Where are you? How are you? Will we hear you again?” she said in a sincere Instagram post. “Sing your song my brother, Jesus Walks…He does, your are, because he was. He is, he lives, ask & believe, he’ll manifest the gift—-NEW LIFE —We miss you Kanye.”
Well, he’s broken his radio silence! Saturday, November 4 — exactly six days before the 10th anniversary of his mother’s death — Kanye hit the stage alongside Kid Cudi. During a concert at the Aragon Ballroom Chicago, the “Good Morning” MC surprised fans and media alike as he popped up on stage to perform “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1,” a collaboration him and Kid produced for West’s Life of Pablo album.
