Gotti Gives Back
Yo Gotti offered to help pay for the funeral costs of a 10-year-old Memphis boy who stabbed himself to death. According to Fox 13 Memphis, the Tennessean rapper has stepped up to help after hearing the sad story of Jaheim McKinzie. According to police, McKinzie killed himself after being beaten severely by his mother.
Memphis authorities say Robin McKenzie admitted to whipping the boy with extension cords and choking him, after which he walked into the kitchen and fatally wounded himself with a knife. Robin has been charged with child abuse for her actions prior to McKenzie’s death.
Gotti’s camp hasn’t revealed how much they plan to give, but any help is no doubt appreciated by a family going through such a trying time.
A Bad Year
The news out of Memphis has not been good as of late, especially as two of its biggest stars continue to beef. Yo Gotti and Young Dolph have sent shots — both metaphorical and literal — at each other over the last year. While Gotti claims that it’s all good between himself and Dolph, the fact that a rapper affiliated with Gotti turned himself in for shooting at Young Dolph’s car over 100 times is troubling.
Still, Gotti claims there’s no bad blood between the pair, even as Dolph continues to release diss tracks. He even shared the last direct communication he had with Dolph (dated August 2012), where he encouraged the rapper to keep after his goals, during an interview with the Breakfast Club.
“I like yo grind my ni**a. When I was in your position none of them ni**as who could have helped me did. Our city fu**ed up homie, and I’m tryna stop letting history repeat itself and show ni–as we can get money together and everybody be on some bar s–t,” the text message read in part.
Gotti explained to the radio show’s hosts that despite the rumors, he’s not interested in beefing with anyone. He also said that he doesn’t feel there is beef between them anyway, stating, “Like, I ain’t got no issue. And ion think… I really don’t think homie got no issue. I just think it’s marketing or something. Like ion know.”
If it wasn’t enough that Gotti has to worry about folks in his own hometown being after him, he’s also been banned from the part of town he grew up in. The Ridgecrest Apartments said that Gotti is not welcome and informed him that he will be arrested if he attempts to show up there.
Gotti didn’t take kindly to the idea that he can’t go home, so he sent a message out over social media that he’ll go to jail for it.
“I got this letter from my lawyer Monday… Sayin if I come back to my hood #RidgecrestApt I will be arrested every time… no matter what I go for, to visit, videos, ride thru, anything… No matter how succesful you become they still always wanna attach you to bullsh*t! So f**k it I said them get ready my bond money ready, my lawyer ready… and I decided to dedicate my show to my hood tonight.”
