Yesterday was a pretty adrenaline-infused day in the hip hop community, after the feud between Wale and Meek Mill was re-sparked on social media. It all started when Wale went on the Breakfast Club to do an interview, promoting some new music, where he was asked his thoughts on the Meek and Drake beef that occurred over the summer. Despite Wale and Meek being on the same label, Maybach Music Group, he seemed to take more of a society stance than anything else, implying that Meek lost that battle. “He brought a pencil to a gun fight,” he told the hosts of his label mate. He also seemed to agree with Drake’s idea, which he stated in his recent FADER interview, that it was weird that no one told Meek it would be a bad idea to call Drizzy out on social media. Since then, the Philly rapper took to social media to fire back at Wale, and things aren’t pretty. Fans even immediately put pencil emojis all over Meek’s Instagram comments.

While Drake referred to him as going from “trigger fingers turned to Twitter fingers” on his diss track “Back To Back,” Meek took to his Instagram to air out his thoughts on Wale’s comments, calling him “jealous” and “miserable.” Meek even went on to say to the Album About Nothing rapper, “U not MMG nomore,” implying that he had been kicked off the label. The two have a history of a bad blood between each other, as they sparked a public social media feud just last year, which was resolved by their label head Rick Ross. Fortunately, Ross has stepped in, confirming that Wale is still very much part of the MMG family.

Rick Ross took to his Instagram to shoot down any speculation that Wale was cut from the MMG lineup, showing a video of the rapper performing for a huge crowd to Ross’ “BMF.” He captioned the photo with the statement, “Never question THE EMPIRE #MMG.” While Wale is typically known for having a bit of a hot head on social media, he actually kept his response back to Meek Mill a bit on the humorous side. Since Meek told him to jump off of a roof, Wale tweeted, “Currently looking for a roof,” with a happy face emoji. He also disclaimed how Meek was not the only topic of conversation during his Breakfast Club interview, stating that he also discussed Adrian Marcel and Elijah Blake, as well as Tyrese and Tank.

Despite the tension between two of his MMG artists, Ross has been using the spotlight on his team to his advantage. The label head revealed that Self-Made 4, the MMG compilation project series, is coming very soon, showing a photo of the cover art on his Instagram page. There’s no word on the track list, or if Meek and Wale are on any tracks together, but the two were spotted in the studio together back in January. With any hope, they can make amends via Rozay once again, and come together for the sake of the new album.
