Before Wiz Khalifa blossomed into one of mainstream’s radio darlings, he was merely an independent artist trying to properly find his footing in music. The one label who believed in him and his aspirations was Rostrum Records. With his old manager Benji & Rostrum Records at the helm, they helped Wiz quickly tap into his potential and become a formidable threat in the rap circuit. Sadly, years later, Khalifa is praying to curtail his relationship with his former manager and label for good.

Wiz Wants Out Of His 360 Deal With Rostrum

This past Wednesday (May 31), Wiz Khalifa filed a lawsuit against his former home of a label in Rostrum Records because of “faithless fiduciaries in direct contravention of their obligations to him,” according to Variety. “An artist’s most trusted advisor is his or her personal manager,” Wiz Khalifa’s attorney, Alex Weingarten, said. “Generally, nothing good comes out when the manager decides to go into business against his artist. Unfortunately, that is the case here.”
Wiz Puts The Blame On His Former Manager, Benji

Wiz’s biggest gripe with Benji is that rather than make things easier for him, his former manager would often find ways to manipulate him by essentially placing him in a 360 deal. This crippled the freedom of the Pittsburgh rapper.
